With all the mushrooms that have been popping up in my lawn, I bet there have been some fairies dancing in my yard at night. Something is sure getting my dogs exciting about dusk each night. They sit at the window and bark. But when I go to the window and look out, I don’t see anything. I bet those fairies just fly off and hide when they see me coming to the window!
My father passed away several years ago. But i always think of him on September 12, his birthday. He died in September, but I don’t remember that date as easily as I remember his birth day.
Daddy got cancer when I was in my teens. He was sick for a little over one year and then he got so bad he had to stay in the hospital for about 2 weeks. But there was nothing they could do at that point except try to keep the pain away. I hate those memories, but I have lots of really good ones of my Daddy. So I focus on the happy memories and wish he was still here with us so we could bring him a cake and sing Happy Birthday to him again.
From a newspaper article in the San Francisco Chronicle, I found a site where you can download free worksheets to track your personal spending. Check out the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of San Francisco web site (www.cccssf.org). My favorite sheet is called the Fritter Finder. It helps track all those small cash purchases that eat up your ATM withdrawals.
When I was just a kid, it seemed that we always had a white Christmas. Now this year we had cold weather, but no snow anywhere close to Christmas. I miss the snow, sometimes. We used to get sleds and go out to play in the snow for several hours, and then come home for a bowl of hot soup with saltines, or sometimes my mom would make hot chocolate or hot cider for us. The kids today don’t know what fun they are missing!
