When I lived on the East Coast, this weekend was a really big deal. Memorial Day Weekend means the unofficial start of summer. Everyone who can possibly go to the beach or get out town will do so to take advantage of the long weekend and the nice weather. Summer is here and we don’t have to work on Monday! Woot!

It is especially hard to see this photo of the Opryland Hotel flooded because just 2 weeks ago I was sitting right there, enjoying a glass of wine with some friends who were in town for a convention. And now it is under water and ruined. So sad.
Ater spending a week in Florida over Christmas, it was really hard to come back home and be subjected to the bitter cold. We have had temperatures in the teens and twenties ever since I got back, and we have had snow several times, too. I miss the warm Florida weather and can’t wait for spring.
At least the groundhog did not see his shadow this morning. So we should have an early Spring, if the groundhog is right this year!
With all the mushrooms that have been popping up in my lawn, I bet there have been some fairies dancing in my yard at night. Something is sure getting my dogs exciting about dusk each night. They sit at the window and bark. But when I go to the window and look out, I don’t see anything. I bet those fairies just fly off and hide when they see me coming to the window!
We had enough snow last night to cause all the schools to close for the day. So all the kids have the day to spend making snowmen and having snowball fights! No one seems to keep sleds anymore, but we have a couple of big boxes that we can use for sledding down the hill. We’re going to make the most of the snow day!
