When I was just a kid, it seemed that we always had a white Christmas. Now this year we had cold weather, but no snow anywhere close to Christmas. I miss the snow, sometimes. We used to get sleds and go out to play in the snow for several hours, and then come home for a bowl of hot soup with saltines, or sometimes my mom would make hot chocolate or hot cider for us. The kids today don’t know what fun they are missing!
We have a tree decorated with flashing colored lights and a variety of colored balls and handmade ornaments that I’ve collected over the years. We have been to Kroger and bought a ton of extra food and I’ll be cooking all night and probably into the morning.
This is the first year that I had to do all my shopping at the last minute, as there has been too much month left at the end of my last several paychecks. So I had to wait to get my Christmas bonus check before I could do any shopping. That made my list short and tight, and I got everything I needed and stayed within my budget. So it’s all good.
Tonight I want to watch the Polar Express movie while I finish up wrapping gifts and baking a couple dozen cookies. That’s what makes my Christmas special here at my house. I hope you enjoy your Christmas traditions and celebrations tomorrow, too.
There’s always a PBJ. When it’s late at night and I’ve got hunger pains, I know that I can make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to take the edge off. It’s fast and easy to make, and I always have fresh bread, peanut butter and a couple of jellies or james in the cupboard. My neighbors keep all of these things in their refrigerator. I thought that was weird – I keep the jellies refrigerated but never thought it was necessary to put peanut butter or bread in there.
